A masterplan transforming Prague's former Bubny railway yards into a vibrant mixed-use urban district — reconnecting fragmented parts of the city through a clear framework of streets, public squares, green corridors, and contemporary architecture.
For decades, the Bubny railway yards have formed a barrier between Prague’s inner-city neighborhoods and the Vltava riverfront, leaving a vast tract of infrastructure land disconnected from the life of the surrounding city. Asymptote’s masterplan addresses this condition directly, proposing a new contemporary neighborhood that stitches the site back into Prague’s metropolitan fabric through a legible network of public spaces and connections.
Urban Framework
The project restructures the large rail-adjacent site through a clear urban framework of streets, public squares, green corridors, and development parcels. The masterplan integrates residential, commercial, cultural, and civic programs, creating a diverse urban environment capable of evolving over time.
Connectivity & Landscape
New pedestrian and public transportation connections bridge the previously isolated rail corridor, linking surrounding districts and extending Prague’s historic urban structure across the site. Landscape systems and public spaces define the identity of the new neighborhood while supporting ecological resilience and urban livability.
Civic Vision
The Bubny redevelopment positions the former rail yards as a new civic and economic hub for Prague, transforming underutilized infrastructure land into a dynamic urban district that strengthens the city’s long-term growth and connectivity.
