A resort masterplan for Tiran Island in the Red Sea, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia — integrating luxury hospitality, leisure, and cultural programs within a cohesive coastal landscape of beachfront promenades, villas, and public amenities.

Tiran Island, situated at the mouth of the Gulf of Aqaba in the Red Sea, presented a rare opportunity to envision a world-class resort destination within one of the region’s most striking natural settings. The masterplan was developed as a competition entry for a comprehensive resort and leisure complex on the island.

Resort Framework

The masterplan organizes the island through a network of beachfront promenades, hospitality clusters, and recreational zones set within the dramatic landscape of desert mountains meeting the Red Sea. The design establishes a clear spatial framework that balances luxury tourism with sensitivity to the island’s fragile coastal ecology and natural topography.

Architecture & Program

Resort villas, boutique hotels, dining pavilions, and wellness facilities are arranged along the coastline, connected by elevated walkways and terraced platforms that frame panoramic views of the surrounding seascape. The architectural language employs translucent and perforated facade systems — colorful screens and angular canopy structures that modulate light and ventilation in response to the island’s arid climate.

Vision

The project envisions Tiran Island as a premier Red Sea destination, contributing to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s broader ambitions for tourism development along its western coastline.
