The B-Scapes series examines how the body becomes augmented, shielded, and reconfigured through technologically enhanced surfaces — the body as interface between physical vulnerability and data-driven environments.
Computer-generated studies of the movement and tectonics of the body as a dynamic condition. The B.Scapes utilized sports gear and equipment in mapping the body’s interstitial space between stasis and movement. The B.Scapes were animated in 3-D and film software to create fully dimensional artifacts for research and exhibition purposes.
Exhibitions
B.Scapes were first exhibited at Henry Urbach Gallery, New York, in the installation OffsideOn in 1999. The B.Scapes were also shown in “Compression,” a group show at the Feigen Gallery, New York, in 2001, and in “Vision and Reality,” an exhibition at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Copenhagen, also in 2001.
