The B-Scapes series examines how the body becomes augmented, shielded, and reconfigured through technologically enhanced surfaces — the body as interface between physical vulnerability and data-driven environments.
Computer-generated studies of the movement and tectonics of the body as a dynamic condition. The B-Scapes utilized sports gear and equipment in mapping the body’s interstitial space between stasis and movement. The B-Scapes were animated in 3-D and film software to create fully dimensional artifacts for research and exhibition purposes.
Exhibitions
B-Scapes were first exhibited at Henry Urbach Gallery, New York, in the installation OffsideOn in 1999. The B-Scapes were also shown in “Compression,” a group show at the Feigen Gallery, New York, in 2001, and in “Vision and Reality,” an exhibition at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Copenhagen, also in 2001.
