A bold reimagining of hospitality within a dense and layered urban context -- a sculptural form that carves visual connections across the historic city at the foot of the iconic Chain Bridge.

Located at one of Budapest’s most prominent intersections — where the Pest riverfront meets the approach to the Chain Bridge — the site demanded an architecture capable of holding its own against centuries of built context. Currently under construction, the project integrates luxury hospitality with cultural resonance, urban identity, and architectural ambition at a scale and location with few precedents in the city.

Design Concept

Commissioned by the Hungarian development group Conreal and operated by Ennismore for the SO/ brand, the project is envisioned as a contemporary destination where architecture acts as both statement and experience. The building’s sculptural form carves out visual connections across the historic city while defining a distinctive internal world of light, materiality, and spatial surprise.

Urban Positioning

The design elevates SO/’s fashion-forward, lifestyle positioning into a spatial narrative that reflects the energy of Budapest while offering international guests an immersive, curated experience. The architecture invites discovery, from grand arrival moments to intimate interior transitions, offering a stage for both brand storytelling and urban engagement.

Recognition & Positioning

Selected by Ennismore as a flagship SO/ property in Central Europe and featured in the Accor/Ennismore development spotlight (2022—2023), SO/Budapest will be positioned as an essential landmark on the Danube at the center of Budapest. The project is a manifestation of the city’s evolving hospitality scene and a significant expression of Asymptote’s approach to urban architecture and luxury hospitality.
